Why UZH International Summer Schools?

Our summer schools offer you a unique study experience – learn from world-leading experts, interact with students from all over the world and build friendships that last a lifetime.

During the UZH International Summer Schools students will get the best out of what the program has cumulated from student engagement and teaching formats over the last few years combined with exciting and highly interactive in-person sessions and a comprehensive social program.

Entry Requirements

Our programs are designed for talented Bachelor and Master students of all subject areas. Interested PhD candidates, Postdocs or practitioners may be admitted “sur dossier”.

To participate in the UZH International Summer Schools, applicants need to be at least 18 years of age at the time of participation in order to be admitted to the summer school.

Language requirements

All programs are taught in English and applicants must possess a sufficient command of the language to be able to actively contribute to classes.

Intercultural competences

Our summer schools aim at offering you a unique opportunity to foster your intercultural competences. Students specifically interested in developing these skills are encouraged to apply to our programs.

UZHISS Fees

The fee of approx. 3,450 Swiss francs includes:

  • Tuition fee: 2,500 Swiss francs
    Includes application fee, tuition, classroom teaching, final certificate and transcript, public transportation ticket for Zurich, student discount meal card, and all fees in connection with the social program
  • Housing fee: 950 – 1,100 Swiss francs
    Different options of UZHISS accommodation are available at different price points. See our section on housing for more information: UZHISS housing

All programs offer partner discounts to students from selected partner universities. Partner discounts are awarded on a rolling basis to eligible students upon admission to the program.

For the applicants to the program "Deep Dive into Blockchain", there is an opportunity to apply for different levels of industry scholarships for both merit-based excellence and financial-need-based candidates. Schedule and Classes

UZHISS Arrival Day Monday, 30 June 2025 (the housing is available from 12 p.m.)
UZHISS Welcome Event Monday, 30 June 2025, approx. 6 p.m.
First day of classes Tuesday, 1 July 2025
Final day of UZHISS program Friday, 18 July 2025 (the last session ends in the evening)
Departure Day Sunday, 20 July 2025 (latest possible check-out

All our programs offer a mix of daily (Monday – Friday) interactive classes, Q&A-sessions, and podcasts. Attendance and active participation in the sessions are mandatory to successfully pass the program. Next to these classes, you are most welcome to join our social activities: Social Program

Please consider that outside of the classes, the field trips, and the social program, you will also be expected to do group work and self-paced learning. The summer schools are intended as full-time programs and participants should not commit to any other time-sensitive engagement during the course. The workload per program is approx. 30 hours for each week with additional hours for the preparatory coursework. Instructions and pre-readings will be provided by the end of May to all enrolled participants.
